The Remix According To Ashley Beedle Volume Three (2014 Future Vintage Vaults)

Both previous volumes of remixes by Ashley Beedle were huge success, measured by the number of downloads. Volume Three will not be so lucky though. Not that the material collected is any worse than Volumes One and Two. These 22 tracks include all genres exploited by Mr. Beedle, from old school electro to trippy jazz, from funky house to electronic dub. No, it's just because the number of current Future Vintage members is so shamefully low and it don't seem to be growing anytime soon. Enjoy!

101 Abacus-Black Thanx (Black Science's Panther Style Remix)
102 Cassio-Baby Love (Black Science Orchestra Mix Edit)
103 Shara Nelson-Rough With The Smooth (Ashley Beedle's Long Island Expressway Mix)
104 Black Jazz Chronicles II-Dope Stuff (Elektrik Afrika Mix)
105 P'taah-Compressed Light (Black Science Orchestra Borg remix)
106 Adamski's Thing-One Of The People (Ashley Beedle's Dog Funk Vocal)

108 Jhelisa-Hold My Peace (Ashley Beedle Delta Peace Dubwise)
109 Shara Nelson-Nobody (Ashley Beedle Delta House Of Funk Mix)
110 Lightning Seeds-What You Say (Psychedelic Beach Funk Vocal)

The Future Vintage era is about to end in a week or so. All the money collected is gone and I'm 2 euros short to pay for another month of my RS account which will expire at the end of the month. Still I couldn't resist to throw in one more fine FVV compilation to go. What does it mean? I simply cannot rule out the possible Future Vintage comeback, perhaps in a different, more open way, so keep me in your blogroll  and check back frequently. Stay tuned!

Farewell to the Year of the Dog

So here I am, sitting here on this last night of the Year 13, waiting for my friends to show up, ready to hit the streets of the Old Town and have some serious fun. It's a New Year somewhere in Asia already so it seems that I have a minute or two to write some stuff out of my hair in this last post of this Year of the Dog.

I had to put my bull terrier lady to sleep two weeks ago. I'm a big bloke proud of certain emotional stability. I'm currently recovering from the worst year of my life, both personally and professionally. I've lost my best friend to cancer, and another friend hung himself for reasons known but to him. I've lost all my clients and almost wound up homeless. Still I wonder how deeply the death of a mere dog struck me.

She was a lousy dog and a great bull terrier. However confusing it may sound, those familiar with this breed know what I mean. She'd had a great life, and though she couldn't continue with her conquest of the world when a tumor on her paw effectively tied her to her chair, she'd spent the last year doing the two next best things: lying in my bed and eating all kinds of forbidden stuff she'd never dreamt of before.

I have no trouble rationalizing the whole situation. I know the time was right and to put an end to it was the best I could have done before things started to get really messy for her. But I still feel a need to justify myself  - to nobody else but myself. And though I know that the 30 kilograms of void beside me will eventually shrink and disappear, and soon I will be able to look in the corner where her chair used to stand without that pain in my chest, I will always miss her deep inside of me. But the dogs who were truly loved will never be forgotten anyway. Rest in peace, Kočička.

Also I seem to have lost my blog for good. Not that I'm not willing to go on with my smart remarks on times and music of my youth. It's just that sad fact that of all those thousands former Future Vintage blog readers not more than a handful have confided in me enough to jump on my new scheme, and when I say handful, I really mean it - if I invited all the new Future Vintage members in my place, we'd be all sitting comfortably. I have to admit that it was the bitterest pill of all I had to swallow this year. Perhaps I will be able to get back in the saddle and carry on. If not, I will find a way to pay back all of those who put trust and money in this blog. You know who you are and I thank you very much for keeping the faith.

Let me cut this somewhat longish post off in an unusual way. My readers know my passion for Jay Alanski and his project A Reminiscent Drive. To my greatest joy, Side Effects, my bootleg compilation of ARD rare tracks, has been one of the most downloaded titles from the Future Vintage Vaults series. If you share my passion for his works, you ought to head straight to your favourite music dealer and buy the freshly released Zoom Back Camera compilation of his works from the Mercy Street era. This double disc jewel was released on Peacelounge label as a sequel to their recent reissues of both ARD albums and when I say that these guys did a hell of a job here, it's not because they have quoted from my post twice in their Mercy Street reissue press release ;).

Gotta go. If you are a Future Vintage member, enjoy the two FVV compilations below. If not, have a great 2014 anyway.

Stay tuned!

The future ain't what it used to be

Once upon a time there was a blog called Future Vintage. Since its birth in the summer of 2009 it was spreading joy and good time among the numerous crowd of its readers... until it was crashed and smashed by an evil giant called Gugol. Even though Future Vintage did little or no harm to Gugol and his equally evil brethren, the sniffers, one sunny morning it was no more. The saddenned readers were looking here, there and everywhere, but all they have found was an empty screen where Future Vintage used to be. They went to ask Gugol but he claimed there never was such place as Future Vintage. Gugol was so evil that he had killed not only the blog, but attempted to erase any sign of its father, 70's Baby Early 80's Child.

Several weeks later the joy and good time returned - the Future Vintage was back again. Happy were the readers until they realized there was something different, something odd about this new blog. To trick and befool the vigilant and watchful Gugol, the Future Vintage was not as friendly and open as it used to be. Remembering how incredibly laborious was to raise from the dead, the reborn Future Vintage now had to choose new friends cautiously lest he let the sniffers in and let them wreak havoc again. Where there was wide open gate once, a tiny door was left for the readers to get inside. But that was not enough - every reader had to pass the test to prove his good will and commitment.

Not many of the 500.000 readers were willing or able to pass that test, but once they did, a whole new world opened in front of them. The new Future Vintage was now safer and better for that brave bunch. There were new posts showing up every couple of days, the links were appearing in their email miraculously and did not expire or vanish anymore. Since the sniffers were not able to find anything to report to Gugol, the blog was safe, and everyone was downloading and enjoying the music happily ever after. The end.

Yes, Future Vintage is finally back but it's not what it used to be. As you see, major changes have been made. The powers that be forced me to abandon the open house scheme and turn the Future Vintage into an exclusive club. For obvious reasons, there are no more links in the comments section. All you will find there is a documents that will give you answers to all your FAQs.

Read it carefully and consider the pluses and minuses of my offer. It's no secret to me that a massive majority of the original fan base were here just because there was free music up for grabs. But I firmly believe that at least 1% of you readers are not just takers, otherwise I wouldn't burn my precious time in attempt to put Future Vintage back on track. With you on my side, I'm sure the fairytale would eventually come true.

Today happens to be my birthday and the Future Vintage relaunch is the best present I could give myself. As a little push for you, here comes my special b-day offer: Every new BASIC member will get the REGULAR membership benefits. PLUS all BASIC memberships start with The Remix According To Peshay post. The offer is valid until September 30th.

Yes, I have requests, too..

First, let me explain why it took me so long to get started posting my Filter Records collection. The thing is, I was pretty damn sure I've got ALL Filter albums somewhere in my boxes. But, after some hours of rummaging through piles of dusty CDs, I must've admitted that there's something missing. Actually both Sunship albums and, what's more painful, Still Dancing On John Wayne's Head, the perfect collection of remixes of otherwise rather forgettable Dancing On John Wayne's Head by The Fire This Time.

I could easily live on and never hear those Sunship garage house creations again (the weakest stuff on Filter, IMHO) but The Fire This Time really hurts. So I tried to g**gle it up and found this funny little forum, globalnoises.org, and there it was! I was sooo happy! I've registered and my jaw dropped to the floor... To get a 320kbps copy of the album, I'm supposed to post 200 (yes, two hundred, it's not a typo) albums first. For comparison, the second Sunship album, which is also to be found there, is worth 30 posts. So instead of entertaining you my dear readers with the cool Filter stuff, I'm working at the coalmine, blimey, globalnoises. But s**t ain't that easy! The guys who run the forum probably see themselves as some kind of pirated music illuminati and one has to be promoted after 10 posts, then after 30 and then.. So I expect to have it finished sometimes around year 2525 or so...

What's the point of all this whining? There seem to be people on the net who do not hesitate to flog others like slaves just for running a server with a piece of out-of-the-box software and even have the guts to ask for donations! What their users get in return is what you get here and on others blogs with minimal hassle. Don't you kids just love me and other bloggers? Well you definitely should have. It's a jungle out there.

On the other hand I must say I love you, especially when you write and offer to share your collections with me. There's not much Future Vintage music that I don't already have so most of the time I have to kindly say thanks but no. To spare you valuable time, I've put together quite comprehensive list of requests which can be found in the comments section of this post. If you spend a minute reading through it and have some of those hard-to-finds and are willing to donate them, I'll love you even more;-)

I promise to post first three Filter platters tomorrow instead of pointless yaking. But the first Sunship album is still missing anyway, so if you happen to have it, share with me and help to complete the Dorado / Filter saga.

Alive and moving

What? Two months gap? Never happenned in the 26 months history of Future Vintage...

The reason is quite simple - my lease on a flat I really liked, finally but unexpectedly expired and I've had to find me a new place called home. To find an ideal flat takes time which I didn't have so I had to settle for one not perfect but okay. You know the rest of the story which means to pack the last 20 years of my life into cardboard boxes (not mentioning my gigantic indoor plants and a bunch of animals), then find them more or less damaged by the moving crew, then find out that half of my furniture won't fit anywhere and - that's the point of the story -decide that the new flat has so many hidden flaws that I have to move on sooner than much later...

I'm in the process of looking for new place right now so there's some time for a couple of posts before the hell breaks loose again. This time I'm not asking if there are any readers left because your comments and request kept coming all the time and I'm very grateful for them. So grateful that although the whole moving operation left me almost penniless, I managed (with help of all three my brave donators) to extend my RS account to keep the files in place. So why don't I post some of the most requested albums today?

Can you steal what's already stolen?

Do you want to know what I was doing last weeks instead of posting tons of albums? I crossed the border to the Wild East, my quest being to find the answer to one serious question on my mind: Can you steal what's already stolen?

Understand, I'm far from idealising what I'm doing here but at least I try to post original material that isn't widely available around the net. I try my best to keep this place cozy and warm with a personal touch. I won't fool you, blogging like this isn't so hard. It only takes me to read through piles of requests and comments, go to the attic, dig in the box, wash my dusty hands, rip and tag, find the covers somewhere, write some short text and post it. In return I get another pile of mail, with smilies and warm thankyous this time.

Then one day my posts started to leak. Some of the records I post here are so rare or outstanding it's easy to track them with the Gugol search engine so I could see them popping up on various forums, download sites and "blogs", mostly of israeli, russian, ukrainian and (it only gets better) belarussian provenience. Since the early days of music sharing blogs I felt proud to be quoted by "older" bloggers, and when I linked their posts, I always did it with taste and respect. Needless to say that these rascals just repack and uploaded my files on filesharing servers with tons of pop-ups and a good cash-for-downloads rewards.

Actually first time around it made me feel sort of proud because the first to go were my own Electronic Colorations compilations (btw still the most dowloaded posts on this blog ;-). Clearly those guys from the wild east mistaken them for real industry releases, with the faux covers and all that jazz. Then the plot thickened and my posts were stolen on daily basis. I tried to fight back.. only to find myself knee-deep in pointless conversations: "How do you knowing this albums is your blog?" "Read the bloody ID3 tag, punk!" Holy mackerel, I even had to threaten certain russian "blogger" with Gugol complaint to stop him from reposting my stuff without any connection to my blog. Seriously how can you communicate with someone who wrote: Will not I understand what is wrong with that? I got in your bloge, and that I pleased me - added to the blog. Humiliating, to say the least.

So instead of posting like crazy I was searching through the forums and sites I could find, downloading my own stuff from exotic servers, tagging the rascal posts as STOLEN in big red lettering and having mindless chats with I.R.Baboons with cultural deficits. Did it help any? Well not that someone would say sorry or remove the links but the theft ratio dropped rapidly - which I'm afraid is mainly a result of the lack of activity on Future Vintage.

There's a brighter side to this - in the past weeks I had enough time to make up my mind what the next discography blog will be. Ladies and gents, meet the new member of my family of blogs - Rising High Records. First I had in mind Talkin' Loud as there's constant demand for older releases of this acid jazz giant, then I realised that I have almost complete collection of Rising High albums (some of the stuff already appeared here with great success). Almost, of course, so expect a want list to appear soon with appeal to help me with the completion. It worked well with The CTI never sleeps, then with A Private Collection, let's see if we can make it again.

Also I started compiling two new volumes of Electronic Colorations, The Vocal Edition and The Ambient Edition should be ready sooner than much later ;-)

Pork Recordings Complete!

More than one years since the last post, I decree my Pork Recordings discography blog COMPLETED!

I know you've heard this one before one year ago when I decided that the last missing piece, the Dub Plates From The Lamp 03 compilation, was either non-existent or unobtainable. Now the album was miraculously donated by certain gentleman of russian descent who doesn't wish to be named and the case is closed. Some of the 54.000 visitors may also notice a slight improvement in the 320kbps re-up of Dub Plates From The Lamp 002. The rest of the world's population is invited to experience the sound of Hull's best electronic label.

One question remains - is there life after Pork? If you have in mind any deceased record label with roots in the 1990's that deserves an electronic tombstone the size of A Private Collection, don't hesitate to use the comments section. My music collection is opened to your suggestions.

Back with a Bit of Shameless Self Promotion

Due to popular request this now cold desert will bloom again. I promise. Again.

I'm sorry I couldn't deliver the September batch of albums (see the next post), but there have been many changes in my life and suddenly I had to deal with painful personal issues and that switched me into pure defense mode. Result: the whole idea of blogging seemed very very far away. I know it's not an excuse, just an explanation.

Another but more pleasant reason that kept me from posting - I decided to get back to deejaing for a while and play weekly After Hours sessions in newly opened chill out lounge in Prague. I've put together a couple of promo mixes showcasing mostly my selection of very recent breakbeats. These two mixtapes should also answer one of your FAQs - do I listen to new music or has my musical taste faded after 2000? Well, it's up to you to decide. I look forward to reading your wise words of kind criticism.
